The polls code bars the prime minister, speaker, ministers, chief whip, deputy speaker, opposition leader, state ministers, whip or persons equivalent to them, MPs and city mayors from participating in the campaign. Bangladesh's fifth countrywide upazila polls will be held in five phases — with the first phase taking place on March 10. The Election Commission has so far warned three MPs for breaching the polls code and asked them to leave their respective areas.
