When Rima Hassan, a far-left French member of the European Parliament, was denied entry to Canada, CBC News produced a broadcast highlighting complaints from a group of professional anti-Israel activist organizations, all while making zero mention of Hassan’s history of defending Palestinian terrorism. Whether this omission was due to a deliberate attempt at sanitizing Hassan’s fanaticism, or simply journalistic laziness, the end result was a strikingly poor broadcast. A third defender of Hassan’s was shown by CBC News, Marc-Édouard Joubert of Alternatives, a so-called “solidarity” organization. CBC News’ Gabriel Guindi had a duty to inform Canadians about Rima Hassan, a foreigner with a history of extremist statements. Instead, he provided a platform only to her defenders, and failed to offer any insight into her fanaticism.
