Mercifully, Wacucu’s uncle, Zachaeus Kinuthia Guchu alias Wa-Obed, reluctantly came forward to help bury their wayward son. Then he asked a Mr Ndichu, who was to lead in hymns, to come forward. Wacucu’s uncle then inquired whether the local chief or his representative were present to “welcome the people”. Nobody came forward. At first they were hesitant but after some prodding, eight men came forward and slowly descended the coffin six feet under.
