DAE officials said if everything goes accordingly, the potato farmers of the upazila would reap the harvest in due time. The farmers are expecting a bumper yield as the potato fields were not affected by any disease this season, owing to direct technical support and regular recommendations provided by agriculture officials. “As the fields were not affected by any disease, or hit by any natural calamity, I hope to get bumper production,” he said. If everything goes accordingly, if any natural disaster does not occur, there is a good possibility of a bumper yield of potatoes in Atrai upazila this season, he added. “Not only that, as the potato fields are generally fertile, cultivators will get good return from Irri-boro (rice) cultivation as well,” he added.
