As a Scottish actor with a fine brogue, James McArdle is an unlikely candidate to play Louis Ironson, the gay, Jewish, verbose New Yorker in Tony Kushner’s epic, two-part play, “Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.”But Mr. McArdle, who hails from Glasgow, has thrown himself into the hefty part unapologetically and fearlessly, despite initial fears of performing in the play’s hometown of New York City.
