Britain has foiled 10 terror attacks in two years, say police


Britain’s security services and counter-terrorism units have foiled at least 10 attacks in the past two years, it has been revealed. The official threat level for international terrorism in the UK is severe, meaning an attack is highly likely. Security services are on high alert after a string of recent attacks abroad, and increased military pressure on Islamic State – also known as Daesh – has raised fears of fresh atrocities. The UK counter-terrorism network has had to also focus on many other issues, including domestic extremism and the rise of the far-right as well as managing the risk posed by other extremist groups. “Despite all of our essential prevention work, it is a sad fact that terrorist attacks can and do happen.
