Britain's poorest families are reportedly at risk of paying over half of their disposable income on electricity and gas bills this winter, despite the administration's guarantee on energy price, as per a report. Even with the assistance from Liz Truss' energy price assurance, the Progressive Economy Forum (PEF) warned that the poorest tenth of British families might face energy bills totaling 47% of their disposable income in winter. As per PEF, a household with an average income is anticipated to spend around 33% of their discretionary income on energy costs, almost doubling what they paid in 2020. However, the wealthiest 10% of households will only devote a fifth of their disposable income to cover the energy expenses. The projections, which were created using data from the government on home usage, consider the effects of the universal energy price assurance and the £400 ($447.59) energy return for all families.
