Taxpayers’ Association and People For India, an organisation fighting for people’s issues, on Thursday jointly condemned the frequent hike in petroleum prices by Central and State governments and demanded bringing them in the ambit of GST. “Blaming the frequent increase on fluctuations of world crude-oil price is a lie. “When the Congress was in power the barrel price was over $6,000 dollars but the petrol price was around ₹60 per litre. Since the Modi government came to power the prices have been witnessing continuous increase.”He blamed the TDP government for gradually increasing State taxes on petroleum products after bifurcation. Tax Payers Association president V. Sambhi Reddy and People For India Vice Chairman Tulasi Rao spoke.
