Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the 1922 Committee, who relays backbench opinion to Downing Street, broke cover to appeal for her to consider a delay to the vote on Tuesday. Downing Street remains adamant that Mrs May is pressing ahead with the vote as scheduled despite growing cabinet unease.
