The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ is hoping to get people to breathe easier about one of the country's leading causes of death. Wills said New Zealand had one of the highest rates of respiratory disease in the world. Respiratory disease is New Zealand's third-leading cause of death and costs the country more than $5.5 billion every year. Wills said respiratory disease accounted for one in eight hospital stays.
