Boy dies after Canterbury riverbed crash


A nine-year-old boy has died after a vehicle crashed into a riverbed in Canterbury, police have confirmed. Emergency services responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into the Clyde riverbed near Erewhon Station Hut in the Ashburton district, about 10am yesterday. Another person suffered moderate injuries, while a third person had minor injuries. The Serious Crash Unit examined the scene and the investigation is continuing.
