Well, happy to oblige, because It actually snagged a $123 million debut weekend. It is already Stephen King’s biggest horror adaptation (ahead of 1408’s $71m domestic gross) and second only to The Green Mile ($136m) among all of the many King cinematic adaptations. It has Warner Bros.’ biggest debut ever for a film that doesn’t involve Batman, Superman or Harry Potter. Not adjusted for inflation, it’s already the tenth-biggest R-rated horror movie ever in North America, counting Fatal Attraction and Shutter Island. It’s almost assuredly going to end up between Get Out ($175m) and The Exorcist ($232m including reissues) as the second-biggest R-rated horror movie of all time.
