This is still a fine showing for a $12 million rom-com, but it's a more conventional release which is having a more conventional opening weekend. But Derbez remains a solid small-scale movie star. How to Be A Latin Lover eventually earned $32 million domestic after opening with $12m in late April. That's the eighth-worst opening weekend ever for a 2,000+ screen release, and it'll be another "opened on over 2,000 screens, made less than $10m domestic" releases.
