Bourne End Academy has paid tribute to a ‘bold, energetic and happy’ 12-year-old student who died at Bournemouth beach last week. Sunnah Khan, from High Wycombe, drowned during the half-term break near Bournemouth Pier on Wednesday, May 31, alongside 17-year-old Joe Abbess from Southampton. The beach ‘was extremely busy at the time of the incident’ and eight other people were also rescued, suffering injuries. A spokesperson for Bourne End Academy said:“It is with great sadness that we can confirm that one of our students, Sunnah Khan, died during the half-term break. “As a student, Sunnah grew in confidence over her first ten months at Bourne End.
