The foreign secretary’s visit, the first official trip to Russia by a UK minister in five years, will uphold an “engage but beware” attitude towards the Kremlin. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said the UK “will engage with Russia where it is in our national interest to do so”, but that the trip did not signal a shift in policy towards Moscow.
