Border fencing: Centre sets March deadline


“He directed all the agencies to complete the Border Fencing work by March 2017,” a Home Ministry official said. Weeks after Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed that the entire Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam be sealed by June 2017, the Centre has set a deadline of March 2017 to complete fencing along the two countries’ border in Tripura. During his visit to Tripura recently, Secretary, Border Management in Home Ministry, Susheel Kumar held a meeting with senior officials of the state, BSF and construction agencies to review border works and Border Areas Development Programme. Of the 4,096 km-long border India shares with Bangladesh, 856 km fall in Tripura.
