Songpol said intelligence so far indicated no increased threat, but police would beef up security as a precaution. He added that the French embassy had not asked for any extra security measures beyond the usual levels of protection. The Immigration Police Bureau has been instructed to tighten screening of foreigners coming in and out of the country. Police deputy spokesman Pol Maj-General Songpol Wattanachai said on Friday that Chakthip has assigned his deputy, Pol General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul, to oversee target areas by notifying unit supervisors to be on the alert for threats to national security.
