An Australian tourist has been charged with threatening to kill and assault after an alcohol-fuelled attack on guests at a Queenstown backpackers hostel late last night. He is facing eight charges including assault, assault with intent to injure, assaulting a police officer, threatening to kill a police officer and resisting police. J William Roncevich (24), of Northern Territory, was remanded on bail to August 23 when he appeared before Judge Mark Callaghan in the Queenstown District Court today.
