Ian Book threw two touchdown passes to Chase Claypool on Saturday afternoon as Notre Dame overcame slick conditions on the road to score 31 consecutive points in a 45-24 non-conference victory over host Stanford. Notre Dame cashed in three plays later when Book threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Tremble, and the visitors went on to seize a 21-17 halftime lead less than two minutes later. Book found Claypool for the first of his two scores, a 41-yard connection 1:20 before the break. Notre Dame put a bow on the win when Adetokunbo Ogundeji sacked Stanford quarterback Davis Mills, forcing a fumble that Khalid Kareem recovered in the end zone for a touchdown, capping the game’s scoring with 41 seconds left. Book finished 17-for-30 for 255 yards and four touchdowns, the first coming on a 16-yard pass to Tony Jones Jr. in the first quarter.
