Bombers' O’Shea sticks to word and uses McGuire over Collaros after Streveler goes down

CALGARY — When a banged-up Chris Streveler finally had to come out of the game in the fourth quarter Saturday, it was rookie Sean McGuire, not veteran Zach Collaros, who went in at quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Bombers coach Mike O’Shea stayed true to his word with his plan for the quarterbacks, sending in McGuire, who has been with the team since training camp, over Collaros, who was just acquired in a trade last week. “In practice, he’s right and everything like that,” O’Shea said after a 37-33 loss to the Calgary Stampeders. “Also, if we get in a situation where we’ve got to run hurry-up, Sean’s been doing that all year. “I wanted to get (McGuire) in there, get him loose and see what he could do,” O’Shea said.
