Bombardier is cutting its Canadian workforce by another 2,000 people as it trims its global staffing level by almost 10 per cent or 7,500 people. About 2,000 positions will be cut across Canada, including 1,500 in Quebec. In February, the Montreal-based plane and train maker announced plans to cut 7,000 positions by the end of 2017, including up to 2,000 contractors and 800 production development engineers. "It's the only way that we can protect the thousands of jobs in the industry and at Bombardier. He said Ottawa wants Bombardier to keep its head office and the jobs connected to its research and development activities in the country.
