The manufacturer will be unveiled today as the preferred bidder for a £3.9 billion deal to build rolling stock, as well as building and operating the line. The monorail will be built in two sections east and west of Cairo, with one line linking the home of the pyramids and Great Sphinx in Giza. In all, 70 four-car trains will be built at its train assembly plant in Derby and will be exported to Egypt between 2021 and 2024.
