The Selaiyur police on Thursday arrested a 40-year-old person who allegedly strangled a 35-year-old woman to death and dumped her body in a septic tank. Three months ago, Gunasekaran, a farmer in Kovilanchery near Selaiyur engaged her for doing agricultural work. The two went missing on March 16, and Gunasekaran lodged a complaint with the police. Under such circumstances, a foul odour emanated from the septic tank of the house and he found the body of Devi inside the tank. During a quarrel, he strangled her to death using her clothes and dumped her body in the pit before escaping from the place.
