A body, believed to be that of a missing hunter, was found in hills inland from Oamaru at the weekend. A spokesman said police were notified at 11.43pm on Saturday a hunting party had lost contact with one of their companions. The location given was Lancers Hut, near Scout Hill. A search and rescue helicopter was deployed with a ground search team and dog, and a body was found. While the body is believed to be that of the missing hunter, formal identification was yet to take place.
