Tejgaon police station OC Majharul Islam said the duo had rented a hotel room after identifying themselves as a married couple on Monday evening. The bodies were recovered from Samrat Hotel on Green Road at Farmgate around 3:30pm after police broke down the room door, he said. He added the hotel authorities informed police when the duo did not come out of the room for a long time and housekeeping failed to get a response from them after knocking. The bodies were later sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsies.
