After a delay of almost 10 months in kicking off boat rides in the Thane creek for tourists visiting the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre (CMCB) at Airoli, the Mangrove Cell will finally be flagging off its pet project from February 1. The Mangrove Cell first had planned to start the boat rides in the Thane creek in May 2017, which was further delayed to October and then the project was yet again delayed due to mechanical snags in the boat. “There were minor issues, plus arrival of flamingos had been delayed but now with flamingos arriving in good numbers, we have decided to start the boat rides for tourists from February 1,” Makarand Ghodke, Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF), Mangroves Cell.
