Board to settle waqf disputes

New Delhi, Jan. 27: The government has set up a Board of Adjudication to resolve disputes related to directives issued by the Central Waqf Council (CWC) to state waqf boards. Eqbal has been appointed the head of the Board of Adjudication for three years. The tribunals hear disputes between the CWC and the state waqf boards. The formation of the Board of Adjudication is part of attempts to give more teeth to the CWC as 24 states have already set up the tribunals. He said the CWC orders would be binding on the state waqf boards.
