Blue Jays and Rangers pay tribute to Humboldt Broncos

Marcus Stroman was in Arlington on Saturday night, but the right-hander’s thoughts were back in Canada with the Humboldt Broncos. The Blue Jays’ starter against the Rangers in the second of a three-game series — a 5-1 Texas win — had “Humboldt Broncos” and Saskatchewan’s alpha code “SK” penned on the front of his cap, a tribute to the junior hockey team involved in a fatal bus crash on Friday. Stroman and Texas starter Mike Minor both struggled to find their grip in the cold early on. A one-out double by Gallo scored both before another RBI double, by Profar, signalled an end to Stroman’s night. Toronto goes for the series win on Sunday afternoon, with Jaime Garcia starting for the Jays against Cole Hamels.
