EDMONTON—Friends remember Stephen Wack as a tough, responsible defenceman who, at 6 feet 5 inches, towered over most of his opponents. It was a talent the St. Albert-raised player hoped to turn into a business once he finished with hockey, friends say. Wack is one of the 15 members of the Humboldt Broncos killed Friday evening when their bus collided with a truck near Tisdale, Sask. Brad McNamara, Wack’s strength and conditioning coach and friend, describes Wack as a “gentle giant” who had talent on and off the ice. “He wasn’t just a hockey player, an amazing young man, but he was also very talented as well,” he said.
