For the fans, Justice League Dark, which debuts on Blu-ray today, has two major hooks. The first is that it features the return of fan-favorite Matt Ryan as occult-inclined investigator John Constantine, now in animated form. So animation, really, seems like a no-brainer, especially since it allows the well-liked Ryan to keep playing Constantine rather than be replaced by an A-lister. Doctor Strange spell-casting hook aside, one of the best things about these DC animated movies is that they don't necessarily feel like they have to explain every single thing in their universe to the viewer. Ryan should have been the lead--since this is his team, it seems a shame to have Batman doing the main detective work, but hey, bat-dollars are bat-dollars.
