Blistered and tired but elated, Chelsea’s Suzanne Cayer, 71, completed her 800-kilometre fundraising march from Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré to Gaspé Friday night to a hero’s welcome. “I’m not sure who organized it, but she said there was a welcoming reception with food,” Cayer’s daughter, Tammy Scott, said Saturday. But in consultation with her daughter, Cayer added a GoFundMe element to the jaunt, aimed at raising about $800 ($1 per kilometres) to go towards maintaining the multi-purpose trail, and former rail line, in Chelsea. “She found a used baby (carriage) to carry her stuff and push it … rather than having to carry it,” Scott said with a laugh. Scott said her mother found the lessons of her journey to be simple and profound.
