Watson Hau Lai-man, superintendent of Western District Crime Unit, said the suspects were picked up following a report about a scam in Aberdeen on August 31. Later, the same day, police also arrested a 55-year-old mainland man surnamed Liu in Kwun Tong. Sam Sin Kwok-man, district commander of the Western District Crime Unit, said the syndicate had recruited mainlanders and arranged accommodation and transport. Meanwhile, the 50-year-old local man surnamed Chan and a 43-year-old mainland man surnamed Wu were charged with one count of aiding or abetting a person to enter Hong Kong illegally.
