Senator Anyang' Nyong'o has hit out at government on the thorny gender rule issue saying that the government is not interested in the Bill. According to Prof Nyong'o, the failure by the National Assembly to pass the Bill is dragging the country back at a time when every nation is advocating for gender equity and balance. The Senator further appealed to the leadership in the National Assembly not to be a stumbling block in the passage of very critical Bills that have constitutional implications. Speaking on Tuesday morning in a local television talk-show, Prof Nyong'o wondered why the Bill could not be passed to become a law considering the numerical advantage that the ruling coalition has in the National Assembly. He criticized the leadership of the leader of majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale saying he is only good at mobilizing the MPs to pass controversial Bills.
