ISSUED a stern warning from the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) for violating the protocols of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), Blackwater Elite is still in hot water despite no longer being doled out any additional penalty. After the board meeting on Tuesday, GAB Chairman Abraham Mitra confirmed to The Manila Times that no further fine was handed to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) franchise owned by businessman Dioceldo Sy. “During the just concluded board meeting, the GAB issues a stern warning and has admonished [the] Blackwater PBA team for practicing in violation of the [IATF-EID] rules and safety protocols,” said Mitra. For that violation, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial slapped Blackwater with a P100,00 fine and ordered all the players, coaches and staff to undergo swab tests and quarantine. “The foregoing measures, together with the team’s commitment to abide by the newly issued JAO among the GAB, DoH and PSC, have been deemed sufficient without prejudice to any further sanction that the [IATF-EID] and the DoH may deem necessary under the circumstances,” said Mitra in a GAB statement, warning Blackwater that a repeat offense will result in harsher sanctions.
