For months, Black Girls Code founder Kimberly Bryant had been weighing up taking money from Uber. By the time Uber offered Black Girls Code a $125,000 donation late last week, Bryant knew she couldn't accept their money, which she saw as a PR stunt rather than a genuine attempt at restitution for its allegedly toxic 'bro' culture. Still, Black Girls Code could have used that $125,000, and its supporters knew it. In 24 hours, Black Girls Code had raised more than the $125,000 offered by Uber. Uber did not respond to a request for comment from Forbes, but this post will be updated if they do.
