Binay eyes hotels, inns as quarantine centers – The Manila Times

SEN. Maria Lourdes ‘Nancy’ Binay on Thursday suggested the possibility of tapping hotels, hostels and similar hospitality establishments as alternative quarantine centers if cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continue to increase. “It’s only a matter of time [befor] LGUs (local government units) will be overwhelmed with many Covid-related concerns. Perhaps, they can explore and study the possibility of engaging local hotels and establishments of similar nature and convert them as temporary quarantine centers,” Binay said. Because of the limited bed capacity, ‘di kayang i-accommodate ng mga local private at government hospitals ang mga PUIs (Local private and government hospitals cannot accommodate the PUIs or persons under investigation). She stressed that by having a controled quarantine facility, LGUs could achieve minimal community transmissions thereby ensuring the public’s health and safety.
