Still reeling from a conflict of interest controversy that has dominated the government’s agenda this fall, Finance Minister Bill Morneau got some more bad news on Halloween. Notice of a $200 fine related to Morneau’s villa in France was posted Tuesday to the website of the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner. Morneau has since said he will sell off his shares and donate the profits to charity. The $200 fine likely won’t faze Morneau, who is fabulously wealthy, and will soon have a little more cash on hand. The notice from the ethics commissioner indicates the fine has been paid.
