Big numbers turn out for Ashurst to Esplanade

Big numbers of runners and walkers turned out for this year's Ashhurst to Esplanade fun run. The forecast bad weather didn't eventuate and there were more than 550 entries for the Manawatū Striders event from Ashhurst Domain to the Esplanade in Palmerston North on Sunday morning. The first walker in the 21km event was Richard Marks in 2hr 5min. The 21km course starts at Ashhurst Domain and goes along the river, through Winstone Aggregates depot, then a few kilometres along Te Matai Road, before rejoining the riverside pathway, then finishes at Manawaroa Park. The 12km course starts at the Winstone Aggregates depot and the 3km course starts on the Bridle Track at the end of Albert Street.
