Beximco to set up plant in US to manufacture masks

The Bangladeshi business group will invest $20 million in the plant, Syed Naved Husain, chief executive officer of the group’s textile business, told Bloomberg. It will also invest $30 million on a mask factory in Bangladesh, according to the report. The company will initially supply N95 masks in Detroit before expanding to other parts of the US, added the Beximco official. "This comes from a process we've been at for more than a year," Crain’s Detroit quoted city Mayor Mike Duggan saying on Wednesday during a coronavirus response briefing. On May 25, Beximco Group exported 6.5 million personal protective equipment (PPE) gowns to the US’ Hanesbrand Inc for delivery to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
