Scott Mayfield and Mathew Barzal scored for the Islanders, who had their two-game winning streak snapped. Mayfield opened and closed the sequence that led to the Islanders taking the lead just 4:36 after faceoff. Mayfield inadvertently helped the Bruins tie the game shortly before the midway point of the second. A turnover by Zdeno Chara — who began his career with the Islanders in 1997 — led to Barzal’s game-tying goal just 3:45 later.
