Baseball Canada can relate because it has been down that road before, but it doesn’t seem to be much of a problem these days. Canada’s national team has developed a loyal following amongst its most successful alumni. Those were exceptions to the support Baseball Canada typically receives. The 2010 National League MVP represented Canada at two WBCs and there’s an expectation he will participate again in 2021. It gives the athletes an opportunity to improve their draft status and it creates bonds to the coaches and the national team that last for years.
