OPINION: If Benji Marshall does not end up becoming the first Kiwi Immortal, you have to wonder if it will ever happen. Wayne Drought/NZPA Benji Marshall retired this week as one of New Zealand’s greatest rugby league players. Holding the record for most NRL appearances by a Kiwi with 346, longevity is not an issue for Marshall. Former Kangaroos captains Clive Churchill, Bob Fulton, Reg Gasnier, and Johnny Raper were the first named when the concept was established by magazine Rugby League Week in 1981.
