Bengaluru City Police now has a new Anti-Terrorist Cell (ATC). AdvertisingOn Tuesday, the City Crime Branch (CCB) added three new wings — Anti Narcotics Wing, Women Protection wing, and the Anti Terrorist Cell. The decision of setting up a separate cell to deal with terror cases was taken in a recent review meeting with Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai. When asked about the jurisdiction of this anti-terrorist cell, Patil said, “The ATC is formed for Bengaluru city and they have been given specific tasks, which cannot be made public.”Apart from Bengaluru, cities, like Mumbai, New Delhi, and Chennai also have dedicated ATCs. Earlier, Bommai had said that about 36% of the total crime incidents in Karnataka are being reported from Bengaluru city.
