The couple were granted almost $200,000 to which they were not entitled. The summaries of facts for their case reveal the Chartwell couple had amassed a total fraud of $193,462.28 for their household. The couple later separated and, in August 1999, Angela Meynell was granted the Domestic Purposes Benefit, which was later transferred to a Sole Parent Support benefit. The result of what the summary describes as "Ministry data mining" revealed the couple had reconciled and resumed living together from February 13, 2001. Both of the Meynells had earlier made arrangements to repay the overpayment to the government from out of their ongoing benefit payments.
