Credit: PreferScott Belsky says he's well aware how many on-demand services will offer a cheap house cleaner, handyman or stylist. Belsky's new startup, Prefer, thinks it can be different by focusing on recommendations between friends. Prefer declined to disclose the size of the investment, but Belsky says it's a "regular Series A," implying a few million. The hope is that Prefer will expand out of New York to other markets in the next few months. "So far we've found people want to help their friends."
