When an Irish hurling star embedded for a week with the Vancouver Canucks, he expected to return home impressed, above all, with his hosts’ resolute commitment to physical fitness. That’s pretty much the premise of an Irish TV series. Chin is a prolific hurler and Gaelic football player; his time in Vancouver was his first extended experience on ice. In a colourful interview with The Irish Times, he said he was taken aback by hockey’s acceptance — esteem, even — of vigilante justice. “We were disappointed to learn of the comments made in an Irish Times article about his experience; the assumptions made by Lee-Chin on hockey culture and reported by the Irish Times are baseless and categorically false.
