An independent hyperlocal website has stormed into the monthly chart for user engagement as the January traffic stats for regional websites are revealed today. The Bedford Independent ranked second in the UK for the metric with users spending an average 9.48 minutes on the site. Top honours for user engagement once again went to Newsquest’s newsandstar.co.uk, companion website for the Carlisle News & Star, which averaged 10.8 minutes per visitor. Sussex Live, Hampshire Live, Dorset Live, Bedfordshire Live and Northants Live all topped 100,000 page views for the month.
