Basti Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 80 seats in Lok Sabha, goes to polls in the sixth phase of general elections on May 12. Dwivedi was in news recently for making misogynistic remarks on Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, incumbent Dwivedi is facing BSP's Ram Prasad Chaudhary and Congress' Raj Kishor Singh. There are five assembly constituencies in Basti Lok Sabha constituency: Harraiya, Kaptanganj, Rudhauli, Basti Sadar and Mahadewa (SC). The counting of votes of the Lok Sabha election 2019 will be conducted on May 23.
