CUHK's study shows the bar clusters had the longest transmission chain. A study by the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Medicine shows that during the first two waves of the pandemic in Hong Kong, the virus was transmitted most at places of public entertainment, involving over 90 Covid cases. The CUHK team studied the confirmed cases in the city before late May, discovering 324 cases that are locally transmitted, spanning across a total of 123 clusters. Of which the bar clusters had the longest transmission chain, infecting 30 other clusters in 26 days. The team suggested authorities to pinpoint their public health strategies, taking into account the risk of infections at different venues when formulating the disease control measures.
