Otieno was first hired by Mwendwa as the federation's Communications Manger in 2016, soon after the latter became the FKF president. He had his docket expanded to include marketing roles, before rising to the CEO's office after the unceremonious exit of Muthomi. His candidature has however raised eyebrows among other presidential aspirants, who feel he is conflicted having been part of the FKF secretariat at the beginning of the electoral process.
